Internet Banking provides a highly secure environment for carrying out your banking activities on the Internet. A multi-layered security architecture comprising firewalls, filtering routers, encryption and digital certification ensures that your account information is protected from unauthorized access.

Firewalls and filtering routers ensure that only legitimate Internet users are allowed to access the Internet Banking system.

Encryption techniques used by the Bank (including the sophisticated public key encryption) would ensure that the privacy of data flowing between the browser and the Internet Banking system is protected.

Digital certification procedures provide the assurance that the data you receive is from the Internet Banking system.

To protect against any unauthorized access to your accounts, your login is automatically disabled after 5 consecutive login failures. In case your access is locked, you will have to inform the bank. The Bank will then enable your User ID and send you a new password by courier after verification.

Internet access specifics

Bank Melli Iran's Internet Banking can be accessed only using SSL-enabled browsers. The software works with Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 (or later) and Netscape's browser version 4.0 (or later) which come with SSL support. It will not be possible to access Internet Banking using text based browsers like Linux.

Internet safety tips

You can access Internet Banking only by using your User ID and Password. During the first login attempt, it is mandatory to change passwords, which would have been mailed to you by the Bank.

If you forget your password, you have to inform us by way of a duly signed letter. The Bank will then issue a new password and send it to you. Upon your acknowledgment of receipt of the new password, we will activate your account with the new password.

Make sure no one can see your account login name or the password you're entering when you log on to Internet Banking.

Before leaving the PC please "close" the browser.

Do not write your Internet Banking login name or password anywhere.

Do not leave your login name and password such that someone sitting at your computer could see them.

Never reveal your Internet Banking login name and password to anyone (no representative of Bank Melli Iran will ever ask you for your Internet Banking password).

Notify Bank Melli Iran immediately if you notice any unusual account activity

Keep all documents that include your account information in a secure location
